Abstract

This study will discuss the increase in Value Added Tax (VAT) in Indonesia from 10% to 11% and plans to increase the rate again to 12% in 2025. The tax increase is regulated in the Law on Harmonization of Tax Regulations (UU HPP) as part of fiscal reform. This growth has a significant impact on the national economy, especially on consumers and business actors. The increase in rates is intended to increase state revenues, but it also has an impact on increasing the price of goods and services, thus affecting people's purchasing power. Consumers become more careful when shopping, and businesses must adjust their prices and marketing strategies to remain competitive. E-commerce is a solution that helps consumers get more affordable prices through promotions and discounts. In addition, the increase in VAT is likely to worsen inflation and affect investment, especially in the domestic consumption sector. Therefore, the government needs to introduce support policies, such as providing incentives for small businesses and controlling prices, to minimize the negative impact. As long as the strategy is right, the increase in VAT can still support economic growth without significantly reducing people's welfare.
